Lieux Stays Focused to Win at Santa Maria

Ted Lieux of Baton Rouge, LA claimed the Overall Boys Title this weekend, August 27th-28th, at
Santa Maria. On Saturday, both Lieux and Brennan LeBlanc would shoot an opening round of 71
to lead the overall boys division into the clubhouse five strokes over their nearest competitor. On
Sunday, the score were a little higher allowing for the field to tighten. Conner Cavin of Baton Rouge,
LA made a hard charge at the leaders on Sunday but the charge would come up one player short as
Lieux would hold on to claim his first ever Arrowhead victory. Conner Cavin (76-75, 151) would finish
second. Brennan LeBlanc (71-84, 155) of Baton Rouge, LA would finish third. Grant Welch
(77-79, 156) of Baton Rouge, LA would finish fourth. Rounding out the rest of the top five were
Chad Arsenault of Baton Rouge, LA and Jake Pritchard of Angie, LA.

Barbaree Claims Junior Boys Title

Philip Barbaree from Shreveport, LA captured another junior boy’s tournament win on Sunday
afternoon. Barbaree shot a 71 on Saturday to lead the junior boys division by three strokes over
Derick Pillai from Metairie, LA and Nathan Jeansonne of Keithville, LA. Barbaree would stay
conservative on Sunday by shooting a 75 to capture the title with a two day total of 146 (71-75)
still only five strokes over Pillai. Rounding out the rest of the top five were Nathan Jeansonne
(74-80, 154) of Keithville, LA; Mark Bienvenu (76-79, 155) of Baton Rouge, LA; and Triston Elston
(75-85, 160) of Baton Rouge, LA.

Kennedy Wins Girls Title at Santa Maria

Taylor Kennedy of Baton Rouge, LA won the Overall Girls Title at the Santa Maria Country Club this
weekend August 27th-28th. Kennedy played strong on Saturday by shooting an opening round of
80 and never looked back. Going into the round of Sunday, Kennedy had a four stroke lead over
Miriam Parker of Madison, MS. Kennedy would separate herself from the rest of the field on Sunday
by keep herself together when the heat was tough. Kennedy shot another 80 on Sunday giving her a
victory of 11 strokes over Parker. Kennedy used an incredible eagle on the 447 yard par five 18th
hole by holing in from 90 yards out on Saturday to help claim her victory.
