Austin Schillaci captured the Purple and Gold Junior Classic May 31st-June 2nd, with a
three day total of 228 (78-76-74) at the Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville, LA. Jara
Templet of Baton Rouge, LA would shoot a three day total of 231 (75-79-77) to capture
the Overall Girls Title and Angelica Harris of New Orleans would also capture the Junior
Girls Title with a total of 254 (86-88-80). The Juniors Boys Title was won by Michael Sotile
of Baton Rouge, LA with a total of 242 (84-77-81). The young men and women were forced
to play through the hottest temperatures we have seen all year so we would like to congratulate
everyone for a great three days of golf. Arrowhead would also like to thank the wonderful
staff at Beau Chene for all of the wonderful hospitality.
Schillaci Wins With Consistent Play Throughout Tournament
Austin Schillaci of Harahan, LA played a consistent round of golf this week to capture the
Overall Boys Title at Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville, LA. Opening the tournament
on Tuesday, Schillaci was sitting in the second place three strokes back of Jake Pritchard of
Angie, LA. Schillaci stayed focused on Wednesday and improved his score by two strokes and
was able to take over the first position but was still tied with Ryan Desormeaux of Broussard, LA.
Once Thursday finally came Schillaci continued to play strong despite strong competition from
Desormeaux. Schillaci had enough on the last hole to keep Desormeaux at bay and shoot a three
day total of 228 (78-76-74) and capture the Overall Boys Title. Rounding out the rest of the top
five were Ryan Desormeaux (78-76-79, 229) of Broussard, LA; Josh Fullilove (78-79-76, 233) of
Larose, LA; Brandon Pierce (83-72-81, 236) of Covington, LA; and Jake Pritchard (75-81-82, 238)
of Angie, LA.
Sotile Claims Junior Boys Title
Michael Sotile Junior Boys Champion
Michael Sotile of Baton Rouge, LA captured the Junior Boys Title with a three day total of
242 (84-77-81). Sotile was able to find his stride Tuesday but was tied for the lead with Stephen
Wall and Charles Nugent. As the round on Wednesday concluded Sotile was able to claim the
top spot by shooting a solid round of 77. Sotile might have had the lead after Wednesday concluded
by Wall made a strong run to tie Sotile on Thursday. Sotile and Wall then would go into a one hole
playoff to determine the winner. Once the playoff hole concluded it was Sotile paring out the hole
to claim the title over Wall. Rounding out the rest of the top five were Stephen Wall (84-81-77,242)
of Madisonville, LA; Jacob Wyatt (91-83-79, 253) of Bossier City, LA; Charles Nugent (84-87-84, 255)
of Baton Rouge, LA; and Garrett Kochakian (87-84-88, 259) of Shreveport, LA.
Templet Wins Overall Girls Title
Jara Templet Overall Girls Champion
Jara Templet of Baton Rouge, LA claimed the Overall Girls Title at the Purple and Gold Junior Classic
this past week at the Beau Chene Country Club. Monday’s action saw Templet lead the girls division
into the clubhouse with a girl's low of 75. Templet had a ten stroke lead over Jennifer Nguyen of Slidell,
LA and on Wednesday the lead would stay the same after both ladies shot a round of 79. Templet was
able to seal the victory on Thursday with a round of 77. Jennifer Nguyen of Slidell, LA finished second
with a three day total of 243 (85-79-79), while Pearlissa Harris of New Orleans, LA would finish third
and, Alexis Belton of West Monroe, LA rounded out the top four. Angelica Harris of New Orleans, LA
captured yet another Junior Girls Title with a three day total of 254 (86-88-80), and Mary Chauvin of
Hammond, LA finished second with a total of 264 (90-85-89).
