In April of 2005 the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour lost one of its best and brightest, Kelly Love of Slidell, Louisiana, when Kelly perished in a tragic automobile accident.  Kelly was an outstanding and dynamic member of the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour and the first member of the Collegiate Golf Prep Program.

Kelly’s rise to prominence on the Arrowhead Tour was swift and impressive.  She was offered several Division I golf scholarships and ultimately accepted an offer from Daytona Beach Community College in Florida.

Kelly possessed a magnetic personality and a very generous spirit and was loved and respected by everyone with whom she came into contact.  To honor her memory, Kelly’s parents Craig and Terri Love, in conjunction with the Arrowhead Junior Tour, have established the “Kelly Love Golf Foundation”, a not-for-profit fund.  The Foundation, among other things, funds two annual college scholarships to Arrowhead Junior Tour members.  Recipients are selected by a committee of parents and honored at the Annual AJGT Awards Banquet during the Arrowhead Tour Championship.  Recipients must be graduating or rising seniors and must be participants in the AJGT Championship.

The Kelly Love Sportsmanship Scholarships honor the qualities that made Kelly Love such a unique AJGT member and unique young person:  work ethic, sportsmanship and fair play, and generosity of spirit.

In 2006, the “Kelly Love Junior Classic” was played at Oak Harbor Golf Club in Slidell, Louisiana, Kelly’s home course.  Boys and Girls Overall Champions were Josh McCullough of Sulphur, Louisiana and Heather Lott of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Annual Kelly Love Showcase Classic is played late autumn each year in Destin, Florida.  Kelly loved the beach and loved playing AJGT events in Florida near the beach.  College coaches are invited to attend this annual event and the tournament is open to all junior golfers, not just AJGT members. The 2009 Kelly Love Showcase Classic will be played at Indian Bayou Country Club in Destin, Florida on the weekend of November 7th-8th.
