James Durbin of Biloxi, Mississippi fired a two day total of 156 (77-79) to win the Senior Boys Division at the AJGT Point Clear Junior Classic. The event was held at the Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama this past weekend. Steven Setterstrom shot 151 (73-78) to win the Junior Boys division. Pair Noibanchong shot a 162 (80-82) to claim the Overall Girls championship. After sunny skies and warm temperatures on Saturday, the players battled the rain on Sunday and completed the event just before the weather shut down the course for Sunday afternoon play. The staff at the Robert Trent Jones course helped us get the Sunday round in by allowing us an 8 am shotgun start. Arrowhead looks forward to returning to this site and hopes to hold other events in the Mobile area.

Durbin Uses Steady Play to Capture Title

James Durbin of Biloxi, Mississippi began the day tied for the lead after an opening round 79. Durbin quickly fell three strokes behind Taylor Billings of Kenner, Louisiana (79-79, 158) after bogeying three of his first five holes. Durbin ran off a string of pars and birdied the par 4 ninth hole to take a one shot lead at the turn. He closed his round with three straight pars to secure his victory. Taylor Billings tied for second with Garret Barnes of Biloxi, Mississippi (80-78, 158). Barnes began the day one back but struggled on the opening nine on his way to a six over 42. He closed strong with a 36 to end the day tied for second. Hunter Hale of Franklinton, Louisiana (88-86, 174) finished fourth. Ryan Desormeaux of Broussard, Louisiana (89-87, 176) finished fifth.

Setterstrom Claims Junior Division Championship

Steven Setterstrom (73-78, 151) of Mobile, Alabama entered the final nine holes tied with Tyler Hitchner (76-77, 153) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Setterstrom used a locked in level of concentration to real off nine consecutive pars to secure his victory. Hitchner never let up and created excitment by cutting a three wood from 225 yards out on the par 5 sixteenth hole to lead to a birdie and put him within one of the lead. The skies opened as both players set up on the par three seventeenth. After Hitchner hit his ball onto the green, steely eyed Setterstrom calmly followed suit and made another par on his way to victory. Triston Elston (81-80, 161) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana finished third, Parker Remig (80-87, 167) of Gulf Breeze, Florida finished fourth and Johnny Maxwell (82-86, 168) of Ruston, Louisiana and Trent Baggerly (88-80, 168) finished tied for fifth.
