Connor Cavin Hole in One

Cullen Pearce (73-78, 151) of Alexandria, Louisiana captured his first Arrowhead Title at the AJGT Oaks at Sherwood Junior Classic played July 10-11, 2010 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Allison Kippers (41-83; 124) of Zachary, Louisiana won the Overall Girls Title with a first hole playoff win over Angelica Harris (42-82; 124) of New Orleans, Louisiana. William Meyers (35-78; 113) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana won the Junior Boys Title. The girls and junior boys divisions had their event shortened to 27 holes as a result of thunderstorms that hit the course Saturday afternoon. The Senior boys had only a few groups left on the course Saturday afternoon and those completed their first round early Sunday morning before playing the final 18 holes. Connor Cavin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana recorded a hole in one on the 160 yard par three third hole on Sunday morning. His father was there to witness this special moment that will last a lifetime. We would like to thank the members and staff at The Oaks at Sherwood for the help they gave us in hosting this event.

Cullen Pearce Breaks through for Arrowhead Title

Cullen Pearce played a near flawless first round opening with two birdies on his way to an opening round 73 that gave him a four shot lead heading into the final round. Ben Ortega (78-74, 152) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana began the second round in third place, five shots back. Pearce played the first twelve holes in six over par on Sunday and sat at seven over for the tournament. Ortega was one under for the day for the same twelve holes and held a two shot lead with six holes to play. Pearce was able to offset his two bogeys on the final six holes on Sunday with two birdies and maintain his seven over total for the tournament. Pearce needed his second birdie of the day on the par 5 eighteenth hole to wrap up his victory. Ortega ran into trouble on thirteen and fifteen and ended the tournament with an eight over total for a second place finish.

Bobby Butler (79-76, 155) of Jackson, Louisiana claimed his first Arrowhead trophy with his third place finish. Dillon Dunbar (76-80, 156) of Marksville, Louisiana, Jordan Cardwell (77-81; 158) of Mandeville, Louisiana Norman Blanco (78-81; 159), of New Orleans, Louisiana, Jacob Posze (83-76; 159) of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, Jordan Cole (78-82; 160) of Gibsland, Louisiana and Hunter Hale (83-77; 160) of Franklinton, Louisiana rounded out the top nine places for the event.
